La Breuille is an important 'Manoir' situated just outside the town of Montmoreau in the south of the Charente.
The oldest part of the house - the Pigeonnier tower - formed part of an original coaching inn. This dates back to the 18th Century, the so-called 'Great Century' of Louis XIV.
There were major changes to the main part of house in the 1800's, including incorporation of the tower and extensions to both sides. The pitched roof added behind the tower is a miniature version of the roof of the Chateau in Montmoreau.
Made - as are most Charentaise houses - out of the local honey-coloured stone, La Breuille has been sympathetically restored and carefully modernised, including a brand new swimming pool.

The original grand entrance gates have been restored and reopened to create a dramatic sweeping driveway, leading to the house steps and encircling a new lawn.
From the grand entrance of the sweeping stone staircase, the interior of the house does not disappoint with high ceilings, original fireplaces and ornate plasterwork.
There has been much work done in the garden by the new owners over the last year. The planting of many new shrubs, trees and flowers is an ongoing project to ensure that the gardens are as gorgeous and impressive as the house itself.
